Flames rip through illegal warehouse in Burrabazar | Watch Taaza TV's report
In a dramatic courtroom moment after 35 long years, two eyewitnesses have directly pointed the finger at jailed separatist leader Yasin Malik as the main shooter in the brutal 1990 killing of four Indian Air Force personnel in Srinagar's Sannat Nagar. The attack left 22 others injured in a hail of bullets from AK rifles, turning a routine day into chaos for the servicemen, including Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna who lost his life. One witness, recalling the terror, described how militants like Nanna Ji aimed straight at him but he dodged the spray of bullets by shifting position just in time.
Rushing the wounded to hospital that day, he only learned the heartbreaking news the next morning that four brave officers had not survived their injuries.During the trial in Jammu's TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention) court, the witnesses faced Malik via video link from Tihar Jail, where he's serving life for a terror funding case. With unflinching clarity, one told the court: "Except for your style of beard, you haven't changed much, and I have no difficulty recognising you as the main shooter." They also identified three other accused – Showkat Bakshi, Nanna Ji, and Javed Ahmad – as part of the armed group that opened fire on the Air Force team.
The CBI's special prosecutor, SK Bhat, is pushing the case forward with this powerful testimony, marking a big step after decades of delays. This hearing brings a flicker of justice to the victims' families who have waited patiently for accountability. The next court date is set for November 29, where more evidence will unfold. As the prosecution builds its case, it highlights the lasting scars of militancy in Kashmir and the slow but steady pursuit of truth in India's fight against terror.
